I’m excited to share this detox juice recipe with you all! This amazing drink will detoxify and rejuvenate your skin, and bring amazing effects to your skin, body, and health! It’s super easy to make, and you only need to change one ingredient from the ‘Slim Juice’ recipe.
It not only detoxifies, but it helps your diet and your body to absorb the nutrients that were lacking. This detox juice is packed with tons of nutrients – it has 8 times more omega-3 fatty acids than salmon, 4 times more antioxidants than blueberries, 5 times more calcium than milk, 3 times more iron than spinach, 2 times more potassium than bananas, and the protein in 1 tsp of chia seed can replace an egg! Even with all these nutrients, this drink is super low in calories!
Not only does this juice have an amazing detoxifying effect, it is also great for your skin! It contains chia seeds, which helps your wounds heal faster as it helps regenerate cells. I’ll show you how easy it is to make my detox juice.
Chia seeds can soak up water by 10 times it’s weight, soaking up water better than anything else. If you eat dry chia seeds and drink water later on, the seeds will soak up the water in your body and dry you out. Even if you drink water with the seeds, it will digest before it gets macerated in water. You have to soak it in water for at least 10 minutes before you take it. Once it has been soaked in water, you will see a sticky coating around the seed, this is called mucoprotein. When we eat chia seeds that have been soaked in water, the mucoprotein detoxifies our body while passing through our stomach and intestines.
We all know that having toxins in our body is not only bad, but it’s not easy to get rid of. If you take macerated chia seeds every day, you can detoxify your body. You have to get rid of all the toxins in your intestines or your skin will not get better. It also helps carbs dissolve faster, which prevents it from getting absorbed in your body, and helps with losing weight!
It’s a struggle for a lot of people to eat chia seeds because it tastes bland and has a weird texture, but soaking the seeds and adding the calamansi helps a lot!
Calamansi is a citrus fruit with very high levels of vitamin C, much higher than any other citrus fruit. We need the synergy between the vitamin E from the chia seed and vitamin C from the calamansi.
A lot of people don’t know that chia seeds contain Vitamin E and an antioxidant called Tocopherol. A little bit of calamnsi will boost the synergy effect of Vitamin C & E, which is great for your skin! You need Vitamin E for tight, hydrated skin, and Vitamin C is for bright skin full of collagen!
Since we will be taking it before food, a lot of calamansi can upset your stomach. If this upsets your stomach, put less in.
Stevia is great because it has zero calories, and it comes naturally from a plant – it is very sweet, so use less than you would use sugar.
Detox Juice Recipe
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1/2tsp (2ml) of calamansi juice
- sprinkle of stevia (optional)
- Pour 200 ml water in a cup (around 2/3 of a cup)
- Add chia seeds, stir well so that it can soak up the water properly
- Wait for 15-30 minutes
- Once completely soaked, pour calamansi in
- Add sprinkle of stevia (optional)
Just remember, unlike the other juices, this juice needs to be consumed before food. You can drink this about half an hour to 1 hour before your meal.
If your stomach is very sensitive, you don’t have to add the calamansi. Instead of calamansi, you can use other vitamin C drinks or powders that work for you.
The daily recommended dose of chia seeds is 3 spoons per day. You can have this detox juice 3 times a day, before breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But if it’s hard to manage, just drink it once a day. You will notice a huge difference by just drinking this once a day!
It’s hard to consume enough vitamins and nutrients everyday with our busy lives, or sometimes we feel quite guilty when eating out, so have this juice before a meal. One cup of this will replace all the nutrients that you’ve been missing. If you are working or a full-time student, bring this with you, you can even make it the night before.
Personally, I really love this drink! It tastes like sweet lemon water and is filling. Some people don’t like the seeds, but you will get used to it! It’s easy to drink, and you can swallow or chew the seeds. If you don’t like the texture of the seeds, just drink it without chewing. I’ve added this to my daily diet to help me feel more full before my meals, so I eat less while still feeling satisfied, and it has made my skin a lot better!
